I Take the Blame

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

Transcript

Artist Madge Harrah recalls an incident when she was a young graphic artist and made a serious error in her work. Then she heard a customer berate her supervisor about the error. As her boss approached, Madge braced for the onslaught of criticism—but none came. No disapproval. No scolding. Only calm explanation and correction. Some time later, Madge asked why her supervisor didn't blow up at her.

The reply startled Madge. The supervisor said, "Anything produced in this studio is my responsibility. If it's wrong, I take the blame."

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. A boss who understands the role of leadership gets so much in return. People respond to loyal leadership with loyal effort—in the high calling of our daily work.

If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness;
therefore you are feared.

(Ps. 130:3-4)
